How was everyone’s weekend? Mine went by way too fast–as usual. I went out to dinner Friday and had a pizza girls night on Saturday.
It was a fun change because we usually go out. We used Trader Joes’s dough and made two pizzas and breadsticks. I haven’t used Trader Joe’s dough for breadsticks before but the ones that we made were SO good. We put the dough in an 8×8 square pan–stretching the dough so it covered the bottom of the square pan and covered the top in cheese, garlic powder and salt. Then baked for 15 or so minutes.
They turned out really well–and I highly recommend doing them in a pan like this so that they are a tiny bit thicker and taste like traditional breadsticks. I don’t think they really needed any dipping sauce, but you could easily use marinara or ranch on the side to make them even better.
We also made two pizzas, one with whole wheat dough and one with herb dough. We just added marinara sauce and cheese on everything and then pepperoni and mushroom on one. They were really good as well–I have only had the herb dough a few times before but I think it is my favorite of the three.
Since we are on the subject of Trader Joe’s already–I figured I haven’t showed you guys any new finds from Trader Joe’s recently and I have a few to share.
First up: Tejava. I probably have mentioned this before but it is worth mentioning again. If you like iced tea, try this. I make my own iced tea too just because I drink so much of it, but it still can’t compare to Tejava. I buy usually 2 per week–award winning for a reason!
Next up, Sea Salt and Turbinado Sugar Dark Chocolate Almonds
Ummm…you might love me or you might hate me for telling you about these. They are really addictive–I ate the whole thing in a matter of days. My mom bought these for my stocking at Christmas and I recently just bought them again—I just can’t keep them around too often because I have no self control around them.
Chile Lime Chicken Burgers
These are really flavorful and the stats are really good too. 150 calories, 6 grams of fat and 19 grams of protein. I usually just broil them and then chop them up and put in a salad–but I bet they would be great as shown too–on a burger with avocado.
I switch off on these mixes a lot, but this is one of my favorite mixes–a good mix of almonds, cashews and dried cranberries plus a few dark chocolate powerberries mixed in, but not enough of them for my taste. You can’t see any here because I picked them all out on the first day I had this. Now I’m just left with the healthier stuff I guess!
Any other Trader Joe’s products that I’m missing out on?
Also, my friend Leah just started a blog called Gluten Free Gal, check it out here! She already has some really good product reviews and I am excited for a blog that focuses on gluten free food
