Hi everyone,
Hope you had a great weekend! Mine was really good, but nothing too crazy! I stayed in on Friday, went out on Saturday, went shopping Saturday day time and went to the gym, laid out and read my book on Sunday. I also managed to not buy anything on Saturday which is major for me! I went out for lunch on Saturday to a restaurant in Lincoln Park called John’s Place. When Meredith and I realized it was nice out, we wanted to go somewhere with outdoor seating since we figured we probably don’t have too much warm weather left (sad). I have been to John’s Place a few times before and have always really liked the food. They have great burgers and sandwiches and sweet potato fries and ½ price cocktails on Fridays! One thing I had never had there was a salad and that was what I was in the mood for, so I ordered the chopped chicken salad.
The food came in a decent amount of time, not super fast but that was okay since we were enjoying the nice day. The salad was really good—sometimes I will order a salad at a restaurant and end up really disappointed because I can make salads better at home, but this one I really enjoyed. I always like chopped salads because normally that is something that I’m too lazy to do at home. This one had chicken, goat cheese, tomato, dried cherries and the lettuce was a mix of lettuce, cabbage and broccoli slaw. I thought it was delicious and I think the dried cherries made it.
Mer had an apple, goat cheese and chicken salad and added bacon. Her salad looked awesome and made me wish I could eat bacon. Boo.
All in all a great restaurant—I have never been disappointed with what I have gotten here, it is always great! Beware though that it is a family establishment. There are always a lot of kids/babies everytime I go here—like a lot, especially on Sunday’s. Obviously this is fine, but if you are not in the mood for a screaming baby at the table next to you for whatever reason (like being hungover just as an example), you might want to look for a less kid-oriented place.
Besides having kind of a dumb name, I can’t find any fault with the place so far! If you live in the area, it is a great brunch or casual dinner spot.
This post has got to be short because I have a final dr’s appt for my hip in a few minutes.
Have a great night!
Katie
P.S. Missoni for Target starts TOMORROW! Is anyone else as excited as I am?
