Family fun weekend

Hello, hope everyone had a great weekend!

My parents were here for the weekend and we had a pretty action packed weekend.   I took a half day on Friday and my mom and I spent Friday afternoon shopping.   We also got our makeup done at Dior at Macy’s which was fun!  I wish I had someone to do my makeup everyday.  I definitely wear a lot less makeup from day-to-day so it was nice to learn a few new tricks

Don’t we look just beautiful?

Friday night we went to a French restaurant called Bistrot Zinc which was delicious.  My mom has all the pics from that restaurant I’ll let her post those and talk about the restaurant tomorrow.   We ordered escargot as an appetizer and it was my first time ever trying it.  I was a little nervous, but I ended up loving it!  I also ate an anchovy for the first time.  Very adventurous eating this weekend I guess!

Saturday we headed over to Merchandise Mart.   Some of the showrooms were open to the public this weekend so it was cool to look around at the rooms and furniture.   Everything was a leettleeeeee bit out of my price range but my parents bought a few things.

Saturday afternoon we did some more shopping and then went to the parade that they have every year when they light all the Christmas lights on Michigan Ave.

Saturday night we went to McCormick & Schmick’s  for dinner.   This was my first time eating there too.   I really loved how most of the tables were separated into their own little rooms.  The tables were enclosed and had a curtain that could be opened or closed.   I also really liked my meal.  I had the chopped salad first…which my mom and I decided we are going to try to recreate for Thanksgiving.

For my main course, I couldn’t decide what I wanted but luckily they had an option to pick 2 types of seafood that would come with mashed potatoes and a vegetable.  This worked out well since I was being so indecisive because I could try more than one thing.  I ended up getting a crab cake and shrimp…both were delicious!

My mom had the lobster ravioli which was really really good and my dad had the salmon which I didn’t try but it looked very good.

I also liked that they listed the ingredients of the day and exactly where they had come from…

Always good to know where your food is coming from!

It was a really fun weekend and went by so quickly!  Luckily I will be seeing my family again in a few short days for Thanksgiving.

Have a great night!

  1. Those Christmas lights look so festive – really get me in the mood for the holidays! That’s so cool seeing the source of local ingredients on the menu – I wish more restaurants did that!
