California Love

I’m sticking with song titles for my  Cali themed posts.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!  My weekend was so much fun!

I left Thursday morning for California for my friend Kat’s wedding.  It was such a great weekend, a wonderful wedding and so exciting to see one of my best friend’s get married.  Kat was my roommate throughout college, and my other best college friends were all there for the weekend too so it was such a great time.

The first night was just my friend Katie, her boyfriend Scott and me and everyone else got in Friday morning.  I ended up being really glad we got in Thursday because we had extra time to walk around and explore Santa Monica, lay out by the pool and get organized for the full weekend ahead.  I ended up getting a spray tan on Thursday too because I felt so pale once I got there.  Thursday night we went to a restaurant called Library Alehouse.  It was a really cute place with a back patio with wooden tables and chairs and lots of fun decorations.  I tried a raspberry framboise for the first time and lovedd it.  I also ordered chicken fajitas which were pretty good.   They served chips and salsa when we first got there, so by the time my food came I wasn’t even very hungry.  The portions were huge too, Katie and I both wished we had split something.

Friday morning, we were up bright and early to get our nails done with the bride.  Katie and I got picked up by Kat and we met up with Carinne (one of the maid’s of honor) and Shara, another roommate from college who was in town from the Dominican!  I was glad we were able to get our nails done and catch up with everyone before all of the other festivities started.  After eating a quick breakfast, we headed out to Malibu for the rehearsal.   We all came out to California for the engagement party a little over a year ago, and already knew everyone in the bridal party as well as various other friend’s of Dan (the groom), which made it a lot of fun since we got to catch up with everyone.

The rehearsal was pretty quick and before we knew it we were headed back to the hotel to get ready for the rehearsal dinner!  Can you believe that I totally forgot to take pictures of my food at the dinner?  I think the passed appetizers before were my favorite, especially the mini crabcakes which were probably the best I have ever had.

Doesn’t Kat look so pretty?   After dinner we headed out to meet up with the rest of the group that were not at the rehearsal dinner at a bar in Santa Monica.

This pic is of Katie and Petey (his real name is John Peterson, hence the Petey).  Petey looks almost identical to Katie’s brother so they always have to take a ‘sibling’ picture together.  Petey was also my ‘date’ because we walked down the aisle together at the wedding!

Katie, Lindsey and I only stayed out until around 1 on Friday because the shuttle was picking us up to go get ready at 7:30 the next morning.  Once we got to Kat’s parents house, we had our hair and makeup done and got dressed.   Then, we headed over to the wedding area–Stone Manor which is where Kat got into her dress, and we then took pictures before the wedding.  Stone Manor was absolutely beautiful, it is in Malibu and overlooks the ocean.  The views were amazing from everywhere around the house and it was just the prettiest setting for a wedding.  It also turned into the perfect day!  It was cloudy in the morning but the clouds burned off just in time so by the time we took pictures it was sunny and beautiful but not too hot–probably around 70.

I obviously have more pictures than I can post here, without this post becoming super long, but the rest are from the ceremony/reception.

Kat was the most stunning bride and I actually still can’t believe the cute couple are actually married!  The whole wedding weekend was so much fun and I’m so happy that I got to be a part of it!

Tomorrow will be back to work and reality :(

Hope you guys had a great weekend too!
