Weekend in Bloomington


Greetings from Bloomington!   I am here to visit my brother along with my parents.  We are going to celebrate my brothers b-day–the big 2-0!  I have never been to visit before so I am excited to see the campus (IU), town and especially to spend some time with my family.
Last night was February’s edition of the supper club.  Supper club is a monthly dinner with 4 of my girlfriends where we decide on a theme and each bring one or two dishes based on that theme (see January here).  This month the theme was tapas.  I decided to bring bacon wrapped dates and Mer, Alex and I made an antipasto platter with cheese, olives, salami, bread, hummus.  I think tapas was my favorite month so far!  We had SO much food and all of it was delicious.  Kristen made bread with melted cheese and carmelized onions as well as a spanish potato dish.  Jenn made mushroom and goat cheese empanadas and a beet and orange salad.  Mer also made a brie and marinara bake served with a baguette and Alex made sausage balls.
For the bacon wrapped dates, I used a recipe from Real Simple.  They were super easy! I’ll post the recipe in the next couple of days.   For now I will leave you guys with some pics of the dinner.  Please forgive the crappy pics.  I forgot my camera at home and didn’t want to walk the 2 blocks to get it in 0 degree weather.
Now we are off to check out my brothers apartment and head to dinner.
